Chronic Pain

My foot, my neck, my knee - it's painful to be me:

A cobblestone sidewalk, one misstep -

feet aren't built to bend like that!

It can bear weight - a break was not your fate,

the X-ray confirms, not a fracture in sight.

But the pain persists, please prevent permanent problems.

Oh my! The MRI makes it clear -

a broken bone, a tendon torn.

Wear the boot two weeks more.

Five months later, the pain ain't better.

My foot, my neck, my knee - it's painful to be me:

My neck. What the heck!

No one expects an attack like that.

A year and a half is not enough

to buff the raw and rough.

Jarred and scarred, life forever transformed.

My foot, my neck, my knee - it's painful to be me:

Walking on ice, incorrect shoe choice,

down I went, butt into the snow.

Ow! My hip? My hand? No -

It was my knee that sustained the injury.

Three years have passed, no healing at last.

Chronic pain doubled, then tripled.

My foot, my neck, my knee - it's painful to be me.
